3D Animation - Gun Making

For our 3D Animation class with Mr.Kim Boon, we were supposed to make a gun with Autodesk Maya (Student Version)

Sooo, few weeks ago, I decided on my gun, which is the .357 Magnum.

So far, here's my current progress.

Overall of what I've done.

The trigger
(its so cute!)

The "body" of the gun.
*Still trying to figure out how to do the nozzel*

The handle of the gun
*My favourite part to build actually =p *

2D Animation - Exercise 2 (Character Development)

2D Animation.

This is the second exercise that Ms.Anis gave us, which is to create our own characters.
Along with applying some principles of animation in creating it.

There was another exercise that she gave us, which is the flipbook, but I couldn't take all the images coz there were 50 over pages. LOL

Anyhoo, meet Bubu, a half kitten-half bunny!

Character emotions
Applied Squash and Stretch principle

Character turnaround.
This reminds me of Illustration and Visual Narrative's second assignment o.o

Character overall sketch.
The last image is just so adorable!

I hope I could get it back by the end of the semester. LOL

Web Design

Just realized that I haven't been posting anything on Web Design.
We've done quite a number of web designing, and I'll probably upload the images once I manage to sort everything.

Meanwhile, here are the most recent ones that we've done.

Last Friday's design.

BUNNIES, BUNNIES EVERYWHERE!

Today's exercises.
We only focused on making headers using ordered list
and unordered list
under div class.

Exercise 1 : Fakebook!
Seems quite legit, I'd say. LOL

Exercise 2 : Banner tryouts
Made the banner with Illustrator.
Supposedly be a baker's webpage but we didn't have enough time to finish up.

27th September 2012

Made a funny looking spaceship with extrude and bevel tool.
It looks like a bunny!

Another spaceship. This one looks more legit, I'd say :D

Also made a sun, earth and moon using the parent tool.
My moon circles around the earth!

3D Animation

19th September 2012.

Mr.Jeffrey taught us how to create objects using 'Lathe' (he pronounced it as latte though)
He said it is very useful in making objects like a cup, bowl, plate, etc.

I tried making a cup earlier, but it wasn't very successful.
LOL.

This 'layered cake' looks even more successful :D

3D Animation

13th September 2012.

Further explored 3DS Max with Mr.Jeffrey earlier ~
And he taught us how to make a stickman using attach, dettach and pivot points!

Only problem was, somehow whatever I made looks like a .. dog.
LOL!

State of Mind - Touch ups and Remake

Tree of Life - After editing

Edited the last panel of the "dead" tree.
Made it extra darker to show that "its life has been sucked away"

Mr.Hafiz pointed out that leaves don't just dissapear like that. It falls off one by one.
So I remade this scene in Photoshop, and turned it into a GIF.

He also suggested that when the leaves touches the thorns, it "absorbs" the colours" so I changed the levels according to the panels.

This is the other GIFs that was in the video, but I forgotten to upload it.
I find the grass movement so cute :D

State of Mind - Background music

I've finally found two suitable songs (I think) for my animatic.
I thought insrumental songs would suit better, because I couldn't think of any suitable sound effects for my tree.

Happy

Sad

Gonna merge both of this songs with Premiere as well.

Lai Yenn.

State of Mind

Finished colouring the tree and the vines.

And I decided to change the "happy" background, because it'd clash with the colours of the tree.
It's all in the same composition because I figured that Premiere can zoom in and out more efficiently.
And the tree would be consistent as well.

Somehow, this reminds me more of Metamorphosis o.o

State of Mind - Tryouts

Trying out the moods with colours.

Happy

Sad (1)
Somehow, this looked more like angry to me. LOL

Sad (2)
Same image as Happy, just that I made it black and white.

Tree :)

Tree with happy colours ~

Tree with happy colours and MORE colours!
Maybe I should've made it bigger. It looks like Christmas baubles now LOL.

Tree with Sad (1) background
Seriously this looks more like anger.

Tree with Sad (2) background.
This looks more sad to me, I think?

Illustration and Visual Narrative - State of Mind

Assignment 3 - State of Mind

You are to storyboard and make an Animatic from a set of the following psychological states : (there's a lot, but I chose Happy to Sad)

Outcome :
- Fully rendered (color) storyboard
- Must use correct transitional mechanisms
- A2 Presentation board
- Mounted on foam board
- 1 Animatic (min. 2, max. 4 minutes)

Initial research on abstract Sadness & Happiness.

Tried doing some sketches after that.

Was trying to do abstract, but then I figured that its abit too difficult.
Even I couldn't understand what I just sketched ._.

Then I got a very "cute" idea
(from thinking about my niece at home)

Its actually about a baby throwing tantrum when she didn't get what she wants. And because babies can't talk, all she could do was cry (practically what my niece does at home).

But Mr.Hafiz said its too straight forward.

Then I got another idea.

Inspired by this picture, actually.

So it starts of with this tree, very rich in colour, very lively.
And then these veins starts to climb, like a parasite, sucking the life out of the tree.
And slowly, the colours starts to fade. And soon enough, there isn't any colours left. All that's left behind is the tree trunk.
And the veins starts to tighten its grip, causing the trunk to crack.

Then, it snaps the tree into half.

Tryouts on different trees.
